since my formative years creativity has always been something that has been part of me.It was all I could look forward to. I always found a way to express myself through drawing, painting, yarn art, crocheting or new pieces no one thought they needed. when i share and create it feels like freedom, release or it feels like an escape for me and the best thing ever. Experimenting with Different forms of art mediums to bring things that didn't exist before into existence has to be the best part of my creative process. My work is heavily influenced by the whimsical black woman and everything that makes her
whole so I do everything to represent that, my goal is to make viewers to look closer at everyday materials and discarded objects and challenge the traditional definitions of abstract painting, I see myself making exhibitions and displays that represent this in the future. “For me making art is a private act and a public expression” I resonate with the quiet long days in the solitude of my home. Working with raw, physical materials allows me to step away from the way I look at traditional canvases. I work with glue to layer knitted or loose yarn, threads, fabrics and beads to form art like sculptures that communicate the permanence of objects and materials which we don't
usually consider. To me this is true sculptural relief. I cherish the hours spent in my room stirring up ideas with the same materials activated by my exuberance of youth and whimsical nature. I believe making art to be essential and that it should be accessible to everyone because creativity is within us all.
